How long have you been with First American and what is your role?
I just celebrated my three-year anniversary with First American! I recently transitioned from ISV partner and client relations to ISV direct merchant sales.
What is one thing you do in your role that might surprise people?
I take delight in reviewing and digesting competitors’ merchant statements – it’s fun! Sometimes they are pretty challenging to analyze and therefore they look like hieroglyphics to 99% of business owners. I enjoy “cracking the code” and showing customers exactly how and where I can save them money by switching to First American.
What is the most common misconception about payment integrations amongst ISVs within the deathcare vertical?
Deathcare management software vendors understand that funeral directors don’t have the time to manage segregated business solutions since they’re on the clock 24/7. I believe that time investment and potential difficulty would be the only objections to stray from integrated payments. That is the misconception; our partners quickly learn that our sales engineers and Implementation Solutions (ISD) team help make the process as painless as possible. These teams constantly make themselves available to help support ISVs through every step of the integration, from beginning to end.
What piece of advice would you give an ISV who is looking to add payment integrations into their software?
Choose a payment processor that is constantly looking to enhance their product offerings, as payment technology never stops evolving. Also, make sure that support doesn’t end once the integration is over. An ISV should always have dedicated contacts that they can reach easily via phone, email and even text message!
